Open Access and Copyright Policy

EMLC provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge. The journal does not charge Article Processing Charges (APC) nor submission charges.

Authors who publish with EMLC agree to the following terms:

  1. Authors retain copyright and grant the journal right of first publication with the work simultaneously licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution NonCommercial 4.0 International License or an Attribution 4.0 International License that allows others to share the work with an acknowledgement of the work's authorship and initial publication in this journal. Authors can opt for either license.
  2. Authors can to enter into separate, additional contractual arrangements for the non-exclusive distribution of the journal's published version of the work (e.g., post it to an institutional repository or publish it in a book), with an acknowledgement of its initial publication in this journal.

Authors are explicitly encouraged to deposit their article in their institutional repository.

Peer Review Process

EMLC considers every submission it receives. All submissions are reviewed within two months. The Board of Editors carefully reviews the articles based on topic, level of academic content and style. Each manuscript is first evaluated by at least two editorial board members. In order to be passed on for peer review, the article must be recommended by both the editors whom were asked to review it in detail.

If the article is judged suitable for EMLC, it is sent to two external reviewers.  EMLC follows a thorough, double-blind, peer review procedure. The anonymity of authors and reviewers will be monitored with the utmost care. Publications of a commentary or opinion nature may not be sent for external peer review but will include extensive editorial review and revisions.

Reviewers will assess the article on the basis of the following criteria:

1. Scholarly Relevance

2. Problem Statement

3. Structure

4. Scholarly Content

5. Language and Style

6. Methodology

We typically return the peer review reports within six months of submission. In case of an ambiguous outcome of the review procedure, the final decision on whether to publish or reject an article is made by the Board of Editors. If revisions to an article are requested, a final decision on publication will only be made after the revisions have been submitted.

We work hard to make this process as fast and efficient as possible. We also ask our reviewers to provide constructive feedback, even if an article is not deemed suitable for EMLC.

Archiving Policy

To ensure permanency of all publications, this journal utilises Portico and the PKP Preservation Network archiving systems to create permanent archives for the purposes of preservation and restoration.

EMLC fully supports and encourages author self-archiving of all content. This journal is registered with SHERPA/RoMEO to ensure that the license terms and self-archiving policy of the journal is clear.

Repository Policy

Authors are permitted to post and distribute all versions of their work in any format, including repositories, with an acknowledgement of its initial publication in this journal.

EMLC welcomes advertisements that are of relevance to its scope and will be of interest to its readership. Commercials or banner advertising shall in no way be offensive and will not include information that can decrease the credibility of the journal.
